In the space of a minute, former President Donald Trump accused Vice President Kamala Harris of stealing his philosophy, of being "a Marxist" and of destroying America with immigration during their debate on Tuesday. Responding to a claim by Harris that the U.S. sold computer chips to China’s military during his presidency, Trump argued the chips were actually bought from Taiwan before adding that Harris was stealing his philosophy. “She's gone to my philosophy, but if she ever got elected, she'd change it and it will be the end of our country. She's a Marxist,” Trump said. Harris and Trump met for their first and possibly only debate on Sept. 10, hosted by ABC in Philadelphia. Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee this summer after Biden gave a troubling debate performance in June, increasing calls for him to drop out of the race. According to the latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, more than two-thirds of Americans say they will watch all or most of the debate. While many voters have already made up their minds, 14 percent of Americans say the debate will have a great impact on which candidate they choose.
